16 Sep Link Between Family Aggression and Poor Dental Health
Dental Health Services in Prescott, AZ
A recent study published by the Journal of the American Dental Association has shown a link between verbal aggression and violence in the home and the amount of cavities a family has.
The effects were not limited to the children of these families. The adults with substandard oral health generally had spouses who were physically or verbally aggressive towards them. The kids whose mothers were aggressive to their fathers also had missing, decayed, or filled teeth.
Along with negatively affecting oral care routines and healthy eating, noxious environments in the home also influence the immune system.
It is important to recognize that the researchers of this study indicated that their findings do not prove that these toxic behaviors are the sole cause of insufficient oral health, simply that there is a connection.
