04 Feb Can Invisalign Help with Teen Confidence?
According to a survey commissioned by the creators of Invisalign Teen® many teens feel that their appearance is a large contributing factor to the angst they feel, which is amplified by a world overwhelmed with social media. Anything that can make a young person stand out in a negative light can cause serious anxiety in an increasingly appearance-driven society, whether its braces, glasses, or anything else.
Ninety-two percent of teens actively use social media, while 54% of which say that their teenage experience would be improved without social media. Forty percent answered that they feel their appearance is more closely judged on social networks than in person, while 87% still regularly post selfies and 56% worry about their appearance most days.
A lot of the surveyed teens’ angst was a result of their lack of satisfaction with their smile. Thirty percent were the most self-conscious about their teeth, and 96% were not happy with their smile and generally insecure about their looks.
Many teens (42%) would not want to go through the “humiliation” of regular metal braces, while just 8% think wearing Invisalign aligners would be embarrassing. The high school years can be some of the toughest socially for many people. Most of us wish we had done something a little differently and perhaps had a bit more confidence. Perhaps Invisalign can provide that for you or your child. Contact us for more information on Invisalign services in Prescott, AZ.
