Moving to Prescott? Five Things We Love About Living Here

Prescott is a good place to live, raise a family, and retire with blue lakes, four seasons, and a cooler climate than most of Arizona.

Moving to Prescott? Five Things We Love About Living Here

Prescott, Arizona is a great place to live. And that’s not just our opinion. Our family-owned dental practice is well established, and over the years we’ve seen a lot of new people come for a visit and decide to stay. And no wonder! With the majestic scenery all around, cooler summers, and low cost of living, Prescott is a place many love to call home.

Here are five things that we love about living here.

Five Reasons to Move to Prescott, Arizona

1: The Scenery in Prescott Will Take Your Breath Away

Prescott boasts some incredible mountain scenery. There are pink granite boulders rising out of blue lakes, ponderosa pine forests, and spectacular views most Arizona cities simply don’t have.

It’s worth checking out a few scenic hikes if you’re house hunting in the area. The Peavine Trail wraps around Watson Lake past the Granite Dells, Goldwater Lake offers a quiet forested walk with a fishing pier, and Lynx Lake has a paved loop trail that’s easy for anyone to enjoy.

2: We Have a Four-Season Climate

Unlike most of Arizona, Prescott actually has four seasons. Prescott sits at about 5,400 feet of elevation, and that elevation is exactly why so many Phoenix residents treat Prescott as their summer escape. Summers are mild compared to the triple-digit highs you’d find in the Phoenix valley, winters bring a light dusting of snow, and we see over 200 days of sunshine every year.

3: Prescott Is a Good Place to Retire

Plenty of people think Prescott is a good place to retire. The median age in Prescott sits close to 60, which is noticeably higher than the state average. With a walkable downtown, mild climate, and slower pace, it’s easy to see the appeal. There’s also fairly easy proximity to local medical centers and master-planned neighborhoods for active adults over 55.

4: It’s Also a Good Place to Raise a Family

The slower pace of life makes Prescott an ideal place for families with young children. The public schools in the area are above average for Arizona, and there are charter schools as well. Most residents own their homes, and as of September 2026, there are over 1500 homes for sale.

5: A Strong Sense of Community

Enjoy a small-town feel paired with exceptional community events year-round. From art fairs and holiday parties to the World’s Oldest Rodeo, you can find fun gatherings around the Courthouse Plaza and beyond.
