The Benefits of Good Oral Hygiene

What are the benefits of good oral hygiene? Is it REALLY that necessary to be diligent with my oral care? At Prescott Dentistry, we celebrate healthy teeth, so let’s discuss the benefits of good oral hygiene for our Prescott patients—and discover the answers to these important questions on dental care.

Good oral hygiene consists of following a structured teeth-cleaning routine. This means; brush your teeth at least twice a day; floss at least once a day (Oral-B, 2018); and visit our Prescott Dentistry office twice a year for a professional teeth cleaning. Excellent oral care also includes a healthy diet, and additionally, you might benefit from our holistic dental health practices, like dental probiotics or ozone therapy.

The benefits of good oral hygiene include:

  • Lower chance of tooth decay or sensitivity.
  • Reduced need for fillings, dental crowns.
  • Fresh breath.
  • Reduced risk of many types of cancers.
  • Lower risk of diabetes and Alzheimer’s (Colgate, 2018).
  • Healthy pregnancies and good fertility.
  • Lower chance of heart disease or heart attack.

At Prescott Dentistry, healthy teeth are our pride and joy. We love caring for our patients and making sure their oral health is in excellent shape. By visiting our office for biannual cleanings, we can help ensure that your teeth are healthy and do not need any further assistance to stay strong and pearly white. We hope to see you soon for your next dental cleaning, so that you can experience the benefits of good oral hygiene!
