Looking for Something Fun to Do in Prescott? Check Out These Events!

Anyone who’s lived in Prescott a long time will tell you that the sense of community is the reason they never left. And if you just moved here, they’ll tell you that Prescott is a town worth getting to know. So whether you’ve been cooped up indoors all summer or you’re new to the area, it’s time to get out and meet your neighbors. There’s always something fun going on!

The Farmers Market Is a Saturday Morning Tradition

If you want to get a real taste of Prescott, the farmers market happens every Saturday and runs all year round. You can meet vendors and family farmers and vendors who’ve been showing up week after week for years. You might even bump into some of your friends and neighbors.

The Prescott farmers market is a great place for everything local: you can get fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, and mushrooms. There’s a wide array of artisan products to choose from as well, from bread and chocolate to soap and houseplants. And don’t forget about the food trucks!

Live Music on Whiskey Row

If you’re not spending an occasional Saturday night wandering Whiskey Row while a band plays somewhere down the block, you’re missing out on one of the best parts of living here.

The Historic Downtown strip is always lively and hosts a variety of bands, so you’ll always hear something new. It’s an easy, no-plans-required kind of night out, almost any time of year. Check the lineup for your favorite acts, or just show up and enjoy the music.

Autumn Is the Perfect Time to Try a Few Local Trails

Now that the summer heat is finally relenting, it’s time to enjoy some of the amazing scenery around Prescott.

The trails around Thumb Butte wind right up to a summit. It’s a moderate to difficult trail, but worthwhile for the panoramic views over the whole valley. If you’re not up for a climb, a picnic at the base of this stunning local landmark is always a great way to spend a sunny autumn afternoon.

For Families with Kids, Try Boo at the Zoo on October 31st

Boo at the Zoo at Heritage Park Zoo is a solid choice for families with kids who love animals. Families with kids under 6 can enter starting at 5pm, and all-ages admission starts at 6pm. Wear a costume, bring a flashlight, and trick-or-treat around the “spooky” zoo.

The Holiday Season Transforms Our Downtown

Just in case you didn’t know, Prescott is known as Arizona’s “Christmas City.”

The season kicks off with Acker Night, happening this year on December 11, after the courthouse lighting. More than 500 musicians set up inside shops and restaurants downtown while the streets close to traffic. The event raises scholarship funds for music programs for local kids and has been running for close to four decades.

And don’t miss the Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony, followed by the Whiskey Row boot drop on New Year’s Eve, which is exactly as charming and slightly absurd as it sounds.
